Alloy Arts District

In 2017 we set off to pursue a goal. There was a desire to create something that wasn't in existence the way we thought it should be. Grit Los Angeles was a one-chair studio, in front of a large window on Molino Street, in the Arts District.

At the time, the neighborhood players were Urth Caffe, Villains Tavern, and Resident. Only Urth is still operating currently, but a wave of new businesses have come. Some have made it, and others have closed down just as fast as they opened.

In 2022, we grew to three chairs and established ourselves as the Oliver Club Barber Shop. A community of craft and hospitality. This was our time to build the foundation for the future of our shop. Hidden below the Arts District in a basement, secluded from the noise above. We are grateful to the thousand clients who visited us down there and had a chance to experience our curation.

As 2026 came upon us, the desire for that thing that wasn't in existence yet, felt like it was time for us to make our mark. The Oliver Club Barber Shop was always meant to be a foundation of community, we needed a home that embodied that spirit.

The Shop’s 10-year anniversary in the neighborhood is less than a year away, and our goal has not been completed — yet. After being below the Arts District for the last four years, we've found a new home.

It sits right in front of a large window.
