Oliver Club Barber Shop to Open New Location at Alloy
LOS ANGELES, CA — Oliver Club Barber Shop will open at Alloy, continuing its presence in the Arts District neighborhood it has called home for nearly a decade.
The shop will offer the same appointment-based barbering services that have defined the Oliver Club Barber Shop since its founding, including haircuts, beard trims, hot lather shaves, and a selection of grooming products.
Over the last nine years, the Arts District has continued to evolve. New buildings have risen, new businesses have arrived, and thousands of people now call the neighborhood home. Moving into Alloy allows The Oliver Club to remain part of that story while continuing to serve the community that has supported the shop from the beginning.
The name Oliver Club has been part of this area for more than a century.
In 1917, educator Nellie G. Oliver founded the original Oliver Club in nearby Little Tokyo. For generations, it served as a gathering place for young Japanese Americans and became a lasting part of the community's history. The club reformed in the 60s as a social club, chaired by Ets Yoshiyama, great-uncle of the barber shop’s founder.
Today, the barber shop carries that name just blocks from where the original club once stood.
"My favorite shops have always been places where people spend time, have conversations, and feel comfortable being themselves," said founder Jon Kimm. "That's what we're trying to create. Alloy gives us an opportunity to continue doing that in a neighborhood we've been proud to call home for the last nine years."
The Oliver Club has been part of the Arts District for nearly a decade. The move to Alloy continues that presence in a neighborhood that remains central to the shop's story.
Construction is currently underway at Alloy.
The move will also create opportunities for a small number of additional barbers to join the team. Oliver Club is currently seeking experienced professionals who take pride in their work, value hospitality, and are interested in building lasting relationships with clients.
